Easter from a different point of veiw

Easter Sunday is a time of celebration. We celebrate how Jesus took our place and died for our sins.

We know the Easter story by heart, but have you ever thought of it from Barabbas point of view? Jesus took everyone’s place when he died on the cross; this was especially true for Barabbas. He was a terrible murderer and a horrific sinner.  However he was literally saved from death that day by the Savior of the world. We do not know what happened after that fateful Good Friday when the crowd chose him instead of the innocent Christ.  We can guess that his life was turned around by the grace that was given to him.  He must have heard about the resurrection of the man who took his place on that cross. How could he have not changed his ways?  What an incredible situation to be in--the savior of the world saved this wretched man from certain death both physically and spiritually.

Jesus did not come only to save Barabbas, but to save everyone us all.

 During Easter weekend we reflect on what happened when Jesus took all of our sins and filth with him to the cross and gave us a free passage to His Kingdom and save us from eternal separation. We are all like Barabbas, filthy sinners condemned to death, but blameless Jesus took our place so we would not die. We must not let this gift go to waste, accept Him and turn from your wrong ways. Take the grace that has been given to you and use it to turn your life around.
