Summer At The Beach Post #3

In my Bible study time this morning I was reading about cravings and what Satan uses in our lives to distract from our true purpose which is to crave and desire Christ above all else. Often we talk about what are considered idols in our lives, but today this took on a new meaning. Idols are things that take our attention and time off of what is important. These things can creep into our lives without us even noticing that they exist. One area I was convicted of is checking Facebook and messages first thing when I wake up in the morning. The book “Made to Crave” helped me ask if this desire for affection and attention of others is the best way to start my day? And if those desires are met, will they really satisfy my needs for the day? Checking my phone is so easy and has become a routine habit that will be hard to break, but to live this intentional life it is important to break those habits that get in the way of living my life for Christ and fixing my eyes on Him at all times. Our human nature craves, it desires attention and happiness, but knowing where these needs can be satisfied is very important. Philippians 4:19 says “He will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” I want my needs to be satisfied in this promise and not in the idols Satan provides as a temporary distraction that seems to fill the desires of the heart but ultimately draws me away from my goals and desires.
